The Tayan Nuur quarry locates hilly and mountainous region of the Altai Mountains with elevation ranging from 1,956 m to 2,080 m above sea level in Gobi-Altai province, Mongolia. The region has harsh windy climate with temperature ranging from -40°C to 40°C. The quarry is 1,300 km from Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, and 168 km from the nearest port to Chinese border named Burgastai.
